The reconstruction of the Kandinsky/Klee Masters' House

In 1996/97 the City of Dessau decided to restore the buildings.
This necessitated the harmonisation of widely differing demands
both in the planning and implementation stages:
the great significance of the building as a cultural monument, from
the historical point of view, and with a view to future uses.
by reconstructing to the original state Gropius' architectural design
should be clearly recognisable.
During reconstruction the following details should be taken into
account:
- reconstruction to its original state using the example of the
restoration of the stairwell in Kandinsky's house
- rebuilding following the original example of the construction
of the glazing in the stairwell and the studio window
- the original balcony construction of Kandinsky's house
- retaining the original style with the example of how plaster
and paint were used
- the requirements for its use as a museum, for example, air conditioning
and the removal of the wall between Kandinsky and Klee's living
rooms
